National Heatstroke Prevention Day
Do you know the signs and symptoms of Heat Stroke and Heat Exhaustion?
May 1st is National Heatstroke Prevention Day! Being located in Florida, we make sure to teach our students the signs and symptoms of both Heat Stroke and Heat Exhaustion. Here are a few to keep an eye out for as the temperatures start to rise this summer.
Signs and Symptoms of Heat Stroke:
- Confusion
- Slurred speech
- Unconsciousness
- Seizures
- Heavy sweating or hot, dry skin
- Very high body temperature
- Rapid heart rate
Signs and Symptoms of Heat Exhaustion:
- Fatigue
- Irritability
- Thirst
- Nausea or vomiting
- Dizziness or lightheadedness
- Heavy sweating
- Elevated body temperature or fast heart rate
